M. H. Khatkhatay
Mr. M.H. Khatkhatay is a B.Tech from IIT (Bombay) and an MBA from Poona University. He has vast experience in Islamic Finance. During his professional life of 50 years, he has been working in the area of capital market, shariah compliant product development, Islamic microfinance and Leasing.
For his seminal work on Indian capital market and its shariah compliance, Mr. M.H. Khatkhatay was invited by Harvard Law School for presenting his joint research paper at seventh Harvard University Forum on Islamic Finance. Later on, the same research was published by Islamic Development Bank in its official journal Islamic Economic Studies. He has spoken and presented papers related to Islamic Finance at conferences in India and abroad.
He has played a key role in structuring a Shariah compliant Stock Index, Venture Capital Funds, a Mutual Fund, and Shariah based fund mobilization models for Real Estate, leasing & finance companies. He has vast experience in Shariah Audit of policies, processes and operations of companies and firms operating in the Indian legal and regulatory environment.
Mr. M.H. Khatkhatay was earlier associated as Executive Director of Al Baraka Finance House Ltd., the Indian arm of the Dallah - Al Baraka Group of Saudi Arabia. He is also Advisor or Director on the boards of other Islamic Financial Institutions. He has been keenly involved in tailoring Islamic finance initiatives to the evolving Indian regulatory framework.
